How Did We Begin?
The catalyst for CVHN was a child who attended an after-school outreach program, Kids’ Club, that met once a week at Point Washington Methodist Church. Â The child needed healthcare, and his family could not afford it. A compassionate and visionary woman took the lead and recruited an orthodontist who volunteered to provide this child with free treatment. With this success, a small group of people began recruiting doctors, dentists, mental health professionals and an array of healthcare providers to donate their time to serve kids whose families could not afford healthcare.
Over 80 healthcare professionals now volunteer their time to help area children. Additionally, community volunteers help school nurses, drive patients to their appointments, help the healthcare professionals, and assist with office work.
